Beloved husband, father and son Nathaniel Wayne Watters died unexpectedly on July 14, 2022, in Clayoquot, BC. He was 41 years old, residing in Victoria, BC, where he filled his home with love, laughter and good food alongside his cherished wife Suzanne and treasured children, Brooklyn (5) and Wyatt (3).
Nathaniel was born December 14, 1980, in Victoria, BC, at the Royal Jubilee Hospital. The second of six children for LouAnn and Gary Watters, he filled his childhood with sports, adventure and a love for the outdoors. He is survived by his parents as well as older brother Christopher (Katherine), younger sister Wendy and younger brothers Jared, Eric (Rachel), Kurtis (Alby) and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Nathaniel attended Marigold Elementary then Colquitz Middle School before graduating from Spectrum Community High School in 1998. From 2001-2003 and unsurprisingly to all who knew him, he worked his way up to Assistant General Manager at Red Robin in Victoria before transferring to Calgary where he was General Manager. Than’s kindness and leadership left an impression everywhere he went and his time in Calgary was no exception. After establishing a new restaurant in Calgary, he returned to Victoria where he brought his signature Nathaniel charisma and strong work ethic to Eagle Propane Sales Ltd. His contributions spanning two decades were paramount in building a successful and reputable community business where most recently he served as General Manager and CFO. If you needed something, Nathaniel was your guy.
Nathaniel did so many things well and likely beamed his gap-toothed smile while doing it. He enjoyed doing anything with his children, traveling, beekeeping, flying drones, target shooting, resin painting, playing video games, driving nice cars, playing soccer and most anything outdoors or sports related. His early adulthood travels to Las Vegas, Mexico and more were eclipsed by his life-changing journey that led to the love of his life, Suzanne.
They started dating in 2009 and married August 11, 2012. They bought a home in Victoria, BC, where they welcomed Brooklyn (2017) and Wyatt (2019). Nathaniel loved his family fiercely and with the same passion he brought to everything. He dove into fatherhood and was often the fun maker and snuggle master. Whether preparing a gourmet meal, building forts, DJing dance parties, gardening, painting together or tucking the kids into bed, he made every day special. To say he will be missed is an understatement.
A celebration of life will be held August 13th at 1pm at 701 Mann Avenue or via webcast by registering at this link. The program for the service can be downloaded here.
